A Public Eating Service
Super Kitchen, Creating a Revolution around the Dinner Table
Super Kitchen, a network of members who run social eating spaces, cooking for their communities with love
Social eating spaces are there to feed the whole person, belly and heart. And so much good stuff happens when we eat together; everybody is ‘hungry’ for this type of true nourishment.
We call it #socialeating because we all eat a delicious meal together and by #socialeating people can make a positive impact on food waste, food poverty and social isolation. We set up the Super Kitchen network in 2014 as a response to the requests from community groups who wanted to follow our social eating model.
In 2013 we ran a project using surplus food and developed a model where we just had two meal choices and we were open for a few hours.
This worked both practically because it was an efficient and affordable way to feed local people, but it also worked socially as we realised people really valued the chance to get together at a mealtime, just like a big family
